We all know the word very well by now—“globalization” promises us all economic opportunity. After all, the business of the 21st century is business. The new president of Mexico is a former CEO of Coca Cola in Mexico, and our new American president comes from experiences in an energy company with global interests. Tribal colleges (more)
I used to think my ideal world would be the old days; the days I read and studied about in history. In my heart and soul, I yearned for many things. Now I am told that I have the power to create my ideal world. So what do I change? 
Our college is young. It is just beginning to develop as a place of higher learning. At this time, the college is a place of hope for many. I think if we had a center for all of the students to gather it would help the growth of the college. 
I think it would be great if AIHEC were able to guarantee child care services at every tribal college. 
I just received my copy of Tribal College Journal, fall 2000 and began reading the Editor’s Essay. What caught my interest was the sentence, “We see women who have been beat up because their men resented them wanting to empower themselves, but they come anyway…” I am one of those women. 
Jody Barnes (Menominee) wrote this poem about her son, Alex, 6, who calls himself “Little Bear.” Her poem was selected by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, an international honor society, for publication in Nota Bene, an anthology showcasing exceptional literary works by members.
