Study Tallies Haskell Indian Nations University’s Economic Impact on Area

May 31st, 2016 | By | Category: Tribal College News Roundup

Haskell’s annual economic impact amounts to a total of $23.1 million in gross regional product, according to an analysis of the university’s economic impact and return on investment of education, completed in December and shared this month at Haskell’s spring board of regents meeting.

There was a similar study in North Dakota, which showed the far-reaching economic impact of Cankdeska Cikana Community College, Sitting Bull College, United Tribes Technical College, Turtle Mountain Community College, and Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (formerly Fort Berthold Community College).  Tribal colleges and universities everywhere contribute significantly to local and regional economies.  Hopefully federal lawmakers will recognize this and push through more equitable funding.
