APU Looks into Becoming a Tribal College

Alaska Pacific University has started exploring a change in identity — from a small, private university to a federally recognized tribal college, according to leaders at the school.

 

Carrie Billy, president of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium noted that an institution must be tribaly chartered and have a student count that is 51% Alaska Native of American Indian.
