Tribal College Journal (TCJ) has announced that Celina Gray (Blackfeet and Little Shell Chippewa) of Salish Kootenai College will serve as TCJStudent.org’s new blogger. Gray’s selection comes after a month-long competitive search. Her blogspot will be called “Twiniversity” and will focus on her life as a tribal college student and mother of twins. She hopes to illuminate the joys and challenges of being a working mom and full-time student. Her blog will appear bi-monthly at TCJStudent.org.

Gray is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology and Native American studies at SKC and hopes to one day help tribes manage their traditional natural resources to preserve tribal culture. “My love of the natural world is something I hope to pass on, to my own children and I also hope to make a difference by teaching other young people too,” she says.

In selecting a student blogger, TCJ received an array of applications from tribal college students across Indian Country, making the selection process highly competitive. “We had a very strong applicant pool,” says Bradley Shreve, TCJ’s managing editor. “On behalf of the journal, I’d like to thank all the students who applied.”

The new student blog was made possible by a generous grant from the Ballantine Family Fund. Gray’s blog will kick off this February and can be accessed at www.TCJStudent.org.
