Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College’s (FDLTCC’s) third annual “Food for Thought” tasting event is set for Thursday, January 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FDLTCC’s campus commons and amphitheater. The event is sponsored by the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Foundation as a major fundraiser for the student scholarship fund.

Food for Thought is a tasting event where area businesses offer food specialties for guests to sample. More than 20 local vendors have volunteered to provide samples of their signature food and beverage specialties.

“While this is only our third time presenting this tasting event, the first two years have been wildly successful and last year we raised more than $17,000 for our student scholarship fund,” says Barb Wyman, FDLTCC Foundation board chair. “When we present the scholarships to the students, it’s always an amazing feeling to know that even a small scholarship can change the course of a student’s life.”

“The Wall of Wine,” a highlight from last year’s Food for Thought event will return. For a donation of $20, guests select a random bottle of wine and an envelope containing a gift card ranging in value from $10 to $40 donated from an area business. The 100-bottle Wall of Wine sold out last year, proving to be popular among event guests.

Another fundraising activity during the event will be a silent auction for high-value items, including a two-night stay at Big Sandy Lodge with two rounds of golf at Minnesota National Golf Course, a one-night stay at Fitger’s Inn, a pair of snowshoes, a family ski pass to Mont du Lac Resort and Recreation Area, a $200 gift card to Mainstream Boutique, an original watercolor painting by Jean Hayden, Spirit Bay birch bark gift baskets, and additional items. Moreover, a separate raffle for a $1,000 travel voucher that was anonymously donated will also be part of the evening’s festivities.

Tickets may be purchased at the FDLTCC Business Office service window, from Foundation board members, or online through The ticket cost is $25 per person in advance and $30 per person at the door on the day of the event. Foundation board members encourage purchasing tickets in advance, as last year’s event reached maximum capacity.
