The Institute of American Indian Arts’ (IAIA, Santa Fe, NM) Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) will host a series of public programs for August, 2013. The series will begin with an opening reception on Thursday, August 15, at the MoCNA in downtown Santa Fe. Iroquois singer/songwriter Joanne Shenandoah will perform at the event, which is free and open to the public.
On Friday, August 16, the museum will premiere a new collection featuring Native designers, in partnership with fashion artist Paul Frank. A panel discussion on Native American fashion with Frank, Dr. Jessica Metcalfe, Adrienne Keene, Tracy Bunkoczy, Dustin Martin (Navajo), Autumn Dawn Gomez (Comanche/Taos), Louie Gong (Nooksack), and Candace Halcro (Plains Cree/Métis) will follow.
On Saturday, August 17, IAIA and the MoCNA will participate in Santa Fe’s world renowned Indian Market Weekend with a variety of panels, presentations, and exhibitions that celebrate Native art and design. For more information, visit IAIA at www.iaia.edu or email Andrea Hanley at email@example.com.
