Sisseton Wahpeton Alumna Giving BackFeb 15th, 1996 | By tcj | Category: 7-4: Wildlife Management, Tribal College News
Hildreth Two Stars Venegas graduated from Sisseton Wahpeton Community College in 1985 at the age of 66. Now she is establishing a student alumni association for SWCC so alumni can stay in contact with each other and with the events at the college.
Her educational experience at SWCC holds a special place for Venegas. She sees an opportunity to provide something for her fellow alumni, and she is willing to work at it. Finding people and their addresses has proven troublesome, but she is undaunted. “Some people regret aging,” she says, “while some are not fortunate enough to grow old.”
Venegas, a former Indian Health Service hospital director, also attended Haskell and earned a B.A. from the University of Minnesota at Morris. She was named outstanding alumnus from Haskell in 1977. Venegas stays busy, even after 38 years of government service. Now, at the age of 76, she plans to begin a master’s program at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.
