D-QU Producing Science CurriculumNov 15th, 1995 | By tcj | Category: 7-3: Investing, Tribal College News
D-Q University in Davis, Calif., has developed a series of science units to be used locally and by the other 28 tribal colleges in the United States. A module developed by Suresh Tiwari explores the chemistry of native dyes. Another module investigates astronomy and math using the on-campus “Celestial Wheel.” Others cover topics in computer science, biology, and physics.
D-Q’s work recognizes that science is an integral part of all cultures, including Native American cultures. The work has been supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Minority Science Improvement Program.
