NCC Building Science LabsNov 15th, 1995 | By tcj | Category: 7-3: Investing, Tribal College News
Navajo Community College has joined with the Department of Energy and the Navajo Nation to provide better access to higher education and professional careers for Native American students. The Tribal Colleges Initiative eventually will serve all the tribally controlled colleges and other two-year colleges with predominately Native American enrollments. It will build science teaching laboratories and establish special curriculum programs.
The Department of Energy has provided funding for the first phase of the project, a pilot program involving NCC, Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, and Crownpoint Institute of Technology. Steve Semken of NCC-Shiprock will direct the project, which is funded under DOE’s Partnership for Environmental Technology Education.
