Salish Kootenai College has built a soccer/football field that President Joseph McDonald calls “The Field of Dreams.” He believes that if the field is built, the teams will come. The field was constructed by the SKC Construction Trades Department, which also constructed the rest of the campus. Heavy Equipment Training students did the excavating, earth moving, and hauling of fill and top soil. Surveying students did the lay-out and grade elevations. The Physical Plant staff installed the sprinkling system, completed final grading, and sowed the grass.

The field will get irrigation water from a 325-foot well drilled adjacent to the field. The college will share the field with Two Eagle River High School, which started a competitive football team this fall. The college will utilize the field for intramural activities and soccer. The subsurface of a ten-lane track has been included, with hopes to put a rubberized surface over the track later.
