Haskell Broadcasts Seminar Series

Haskell Indian Nations University has begun broadcasting a four-part seminar series entitled “All Things are Connected: the Sacred Circle of Life,” which addresses environmental issues in Indian Country. The first part focused on how species are coping with environmental changes made by both humans and nature. Broadcast via satellite in January, it was directed toward students and faculty at the tribal colleges in the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, but others were welcome to downlink and participate in the program, too.

The program was moderated by George Tiger (Muscogee/Creek), a member of the Haskell Board of Regents and the host and producer of “Inside Native America.” Panelists included a Navajo ethnobotanist, a Comanche professor of ecology, and a Cherokee tribal elder and spiritual leader. For more information on future uplink programs, contact Dr. George Godfrey at (913) 749-8428.
