Diné President Receives SACNAS Award

Diné College President Ferlin Clark, Ph.D., was selected by SACNAS to receive one of five Distinguished Awards at the group’s dinner Sept. 30, 2010. The awards commend the individuals for their exemplary scientific achievement, teaching, and mentorship of underrepresented minority students. Clark received the award for community/ tribal colleges. The SACNAS press release said Clark has been with Diné College for 20 years, including eight years as president. “He and his team have successfully secured long-time funding for the institution including 20 years of continual funding for the college from 2004 to 2024 and the renewal of the college’s 10-year compact with the state of Arizona for annual funding.” Since 1997, SACNAS has honored 50 scientists, educators, and program directors.
