Agnes “Oshanee” Kenmille says she seeks out young people because they make her smile. But she’s also worried about their future if it doesn’t include learning traditional ways. “I have a lot of young friends,” the Salish elder says. “Lots of young friends. The others, the older ones, always ask me why. I say it’s because the young ones laugh a lot. They have humor.”
