RISSA WABAUNSEENorthwest Indian College Academic Vice President Rissa Wabaunsee steps into classrooms in four tribal communities simultaneously each week to teach “History of Indian Education” via Washington State University‘s K-20 Educational Telecommunications Network. The tribal college in Bellingham, WA, plans to serve seven additional tribal sites over the next two years. The initiative not only brings degree programs and continuing education to Native students in their own communities. It also increases the number of locally-based Native instructors who teach for Northwest Indian College.
